Creativity – A passage to self exploration
I completed my graduation in Commercial Art from the Sir J. J. School of Art in 1991 which in those days was a 5 yrs Diploma in G.D. Art. My professional designing journey began in the Art departments of numerous Advertising agencies of Mumbai. The journey continued for about 5 years.
Though the exposure was exciting, the satisfaction as an artist was taking a lashing. The urge to venture out on my own and break free from the limitations of the Art Director’s point of view was rather strong. Finally, I started my singular trek as a free lancer in 1996.
Why “Smart Brush”…
About this time, computers were not in everyone’s reach and designing was completely based on handmade drawings, layouts, cutting- pasting, spray work done manually. The tasks were ardours and the scope for reworking was nil. Huge time spans were invested in creating and completing layouts and artworks.
Gradually after 1998, computers replaced the human hands for designing, finishing and completing artworks. Speed, quality and variety increased and artist were able to show multiple options to the clients. Simultaneous work on numerous projects, ability to revert with corrections in low downtimes and added effects to the artworks became the norm of the times.
The Brush was replaced by mouse and it became digital…..emerging into smart and efficient designing technique. Thus in 2000, I renamed my designing studio as Smart Brush…..
The sojourn of creative expressions has lead onto the discovering of newer media, relevant to the current times. From traditional hand crafted artworks, advertising has today migrated to newer platforms like the social media, internet and niche tools for communications. The progress is no less exciting, challenging and impressive. In sync with the modern needs, I have the privilege to venture into these nouveau- trending medias.
The aim is to stay relevant to the modern age communication tools and designing as per the latest trends. This enables me to create state of the art designs compatible with client needs, matching artistic layouts with catchy coy and bold designs.
